Holiday DUI arrests total 223

Law enforcement handcuffed a total of 223 motorists on suspicion of driving drunk this holiday season, a 5 percent increase from last year’s figures, authorities said.
The annual holiday DUI crackdown began Dec. 12 and ended at midnight on Jan. 1. During that span of 21 days, two people died in alcohol-related crashes, one on New Year’s Day and one on Dec. 16.
